Homepage | Mothers' Union

The Mothers' Union is the oldest surviving Christ Church 'society'., the branch here being founded in 1901.

Throughout the year we host many different events, often to raise money for mothers’ union causes – from our annual spring coffee morning to our hugely successful summer supper.  Most months we hold a branch meeting in the church centre where we have prayers and an interesting speaker followed by tea and biscuits.

We also have a knitting group.

Being part of mothers’ union is most rewarding and we adhere to 3 strands that form the core of all Mothers’ Union branches around the world – prayer is central to all we do. Members enable individuals, families and communities to discover and utilise skills and knowledge that they possess, which is culturally relevant for their circumstances. Mother's Union also actively campaigns and challenges the mechanisms that perpetuate social injustices.

Why not become a member of our branch at Christ Church, Heaton – we have a wonderful group of over 50 members who meet up and support our many events. If you are interested then please emil either Ruth or Sue on the addresses listed above or come along to a meeting!

The Mothers’ Union Prayer

Loving lord, we thank you for your love so freely given to us all.

We pray for families around the world.  Bless the work of the mothers’ union as we seek to share your love through the encouragement, strengthening and support of marriage and family life.

Empowered by your spirit, may we be united in prayer and worship, and in love and service reach out as your hands across the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
